Part Number: DRV8874 Tool/software: Hi,
I got a question about the DRV8874 and the fault conditions check.
Are the fault conditions directly checked at start-up? So to say, if I enable the driver (sleep = high) will it directly perform a fault conditions…
Hi Alfie,
Alfie Cheng said: when system in this scenario that OUT1 shorting to GND, high side mosfet will have large current, but Itrip will not work on this, but Iocp will work on this, right?
Correct, the OCP feature will work to disable the FETs in…
Hi Byoungjin,
BYOUNGJIN KIM said: Then, when PWM is switched On and Off, the current itself have ripples.
Can I still use the ripple count algorithm?
This would be tricky with PWM drive. You can try ignoring ripple updates during PWM off in the MCU firmware…
Part Number: DRV8874 Tool/software: Hi TI,
I am using DRV8874 in one of my designs. I am using half bridge to control 2 motors. I am connecting the 2 motors on the high side and the driver is on the low side.
1)While capturing the waveforms, i have one…
Part Number: DRV8874 Tool/software: Dear Experts, please give me some comments on BIAS voltage. In order to reduce the power consumption, I will turn off the VM pin voltage of DRV8874 when system in stand by mode. At this time, the BIAS voltage on VREF…
Part Number: DRV8874 Tool/software: 1. When set Pmode = high,IN1=HIGH, IN2= PWM, so it works between forward and brake.
2. When set Pmode = low,PH =HIGH, EN = PWM, so it also works between forward and brake.
The 1&2 forward PWM duty is same. But the…
Hi Fabian,
I was switching from Forward to Coast mode.
I believe the timings could be different due to the current decay modes used. Although the naming schemes can be a bit misleading, the Coast mode is also referred to as Fast Decay and Brake mode is…
Part Number: DRV8874 Tool/software: In order to control the forward or reverse direction of motor(mb3657-2465e, 24V), I applied DRV8874 and designed it as shown in the figure below.
I only designed it based on the datasheet. Please review if there is…

Dear David,
after reviewing the datasheet in all details and some work in the lab, I come to the conclusion, that this chip is not suitable to drive a big capacitive load. I will choose a different chip.
Thank you,
Simon
