  • LM3532: Impossible to dim to off without a noticeable step?

    Leif Ilvedson
    Leif Ilvedson
Part Number: LM3532 I am trying to dim the LEDs to OFF without any noticeable step at the end. The datasheet states an "14 bit equivalent dimming", which if true, should provide undiscernible step to OFF. The only approach I didn't try with the LM3532…

  • LM3532: Mismatched String Lengths: Use a separate voltage regulator fed with LM3532's Vout?

    Leif Ilvedson
    Leif Ilvedson
    TI Thinks Resolved
Part Number: LM3532 In the situation where the string lengths vary greatly such as 5 vs 3 (a difference of 6V), section 7.3.3 of the datasheet recommends using a separate supply for the shorter string(s). Would it be ok to feed a voltage regulator's Vin…

  • LM3532: Mismatched String Lengths: Wasted power?

    Leif Ilvedson
    Leif Ilvedson
    Resolved
Part Number: LM3532 My understanding is that the only section in the datasheet that discusses mismatched string lengths is 7.3.3. My application requires mismatched string lengths. The longest string ILED1 is 5 LEDs and the shortest ILED2 is 4 LEDs…

    Leif Ilvedson
    Resolved
Part Number: LM3532 The datasheet's front page says 1A Typical Current Limit. Section 8.2.2.4 says the max current limit is 880mA. However, the full scale current register can only be set as high as 29.8mA per string, for a total of 90mA.

    Leif Ilvedson
    Resolved
Part Number: LM3532 I want to use the LM3532 as a standalone chip. I would preprogram its POR registers so that it refers to those settings on power up. Is this possible? My tests thus far suggest the POR registers are not being set. The POR table…
