The SN74HC04 is a digital logic gate. But that circuit tries to use it as an analog amplifier, which has never been guaranteed to work.
You have to use an unbuffered inverter, i.e., SN74HCU04, CD74HCU04, or SN74AHCU04.
Part Number: SN74AHCU04 Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI , Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models [ SN74AHCU04 ] SPICE model for LTspice
Hi, I can find out only HSPICE model for SN74AHCU04 device. Are there any way to run the LTspice simulation with…
The new die of the HC04 has more hysteresis at its input buffers, which improves handling of digital signals. But a crystal does not output a digital signal.
The application report tells you that a Pierce oscillator requires an unbuffered inverter, such…
Part Number: SN74LVC3GU04 Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LSF0108 , SN74AHCU04 , SN74LVU04A , SN74HCU04 Note: This is in the logic forum, but the question is actually about linear use of unbuffered inverters.
I have a situation where I want to do some rapid…
Hi George,
The reason for the difference is due to the fact that the TC4069 contains unbuffered inverters which will have less gain than a normal inverters like the HCT04. I'd recommend using the SN74AHCU04 for this application, but the CD4069UB will…
