Hello Mounish, One possible solution is this reference design that can be used with any RS-485 driver: ti.com/tool/TIDA-01090 If you can adjust parts, THVD1406 and THVD1426 also have auto-direction control built in. Best, Ethan

Hi Franz, For the THVD14x6 family of devices they need to be used at the specified data rate for them to work properly. That being said - auto-direction can be achieved with any part with enables through the addition of a timer circuit - as shown…

Hi Charles: Thanks for posting on E2E. This is a very interesting way to achieve auto-direction control in RS-485 communication. Theoretically, this circuit works. In transmit mode, logic zero is achieved by driving the RS-485 bus low while…

Hi Lauren, So RS-485 transceivers only implements the Physical layer (as RS-485 is a PHY only standard - data-link/network level control is not defined so it is up to system designer to determine what protocol is needed) - so communication is controlled…

Gagandeep, The simplest solution would be to place a pull-up resistor on the "A" line, a pull-down resistor on the "B" line, tie the "D" input low, and then provide your data signal to the "DE" input instead. This way there would be a couple of different…
