The UART TI Driver was not developed to enable this mode of operation. TIDA-01212 uses the Sensor Controller and a timer module to bit-bang the IrDA PHY. Please consider using a similar approach.

For a dual LED configuration, you could look at the BOOST-IR design and example code. This would need to be ported to the MSP430FR6047.
