Hi Carl,
I only support battery chargers, not gauges, but your setup looks correct. Your PS1 power supply does not need such a high current limit of 10 A though, so it's possible to set a lower current limit. To answer your questions:
1) Yes, the…
Hi Gareth,
Thank you for reaching out!
We do not have a pin-to-pin substitute part for the BQ24765 or an integrated FET buck controller. See below for alternatives:
1- BQ24725A : SMBus 1-4 cell Buck battery charge controller with N-Channel power…
Angelo, thanks. I am now able to read and write my bq24770 registers. Please see my next posting at: http://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/807034
Best regards,

Batt, I think this might work. However, I think I will need to switch over to the SMBus version of my power path management chip (changing from the bq24773 to the bq24770) to have SMBus consistent throughout, right?
Is there a reference design for…
Part Number: MSP430FR2355 Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24770 , I’m planning to use the MSP430FR2355 in a system with a smart battery pack and a bq24770 NVDC charger. How do I get the MSP430FR2355 to act as the master for the SMBus and then send…
Hi Carl,
I'm unable to duplicate your results on my BQ24770 EVM, which charges the battery correctly.
Let's try to get the charger side working before adding in the gauge. Try removing the gauge and directly connecting the battery pack from BAT…
Hello Gabe,
the bq4050 supports JEITA, so if the charger supports gas gauge broadcasts then it can be used without an MCU. The following chargers could work with your system:
BQ24725A (traditional topology)
BQ24770 (NVDC topology)
BQ24800…
Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2 Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24770 I'm wondering if the following would work. If I were to take 6 standard Lithium Ion Batteries (NCR18650) and configure two in parallel at each tier of my 3S lineup, could I still use the…
Part Number: BQ24721C Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24725A , BQ24735 , BQ24770 , BQ25710
Hello,
I am looking for recommendations for a possible Li-Ion battery charger. Our battery pack to be used is a smart battery and complies with SMBUS 1.1…
Ivo,
The bq40z80 IC uses SMBus to communicate. bq 25700A, bq25710, and bq24770 are capable of SMBus communication. You will need a host controller capable of this protocol to control the gauge and charger IC via software.
Thanks,
Ricardo
