PPP in AM335x EVM

I am using the AM335x EVM. I have connected the Huawei 3G Module via USB interface.

Using the options driver in Linux Kernel i can send the AT commands via ttyUSB0.

I referred the following page to connect the internet.

They said to install the WvDial package. I tried to run the package but it requires the

PPP feature in File System.

How can i get the PPP feature in EVM?

Please help me to go further. or Please suggest me to connect internet in any other ways.

Hi Balaji,

I checked the kernel config for the AM335x EVM and it looks like the PPP features are not enabled by default. You will have to recompile the kernel with these options enabled:

CONFIG_PPP=y
CONFIG_PPP_ASYNC=y
CONFIG_PPP_SYNC_TTY=y
CONFIG_PPPOE=y
CONFIG_PPPOL2TP=y

You can enable them by either directly pasting them in the .config file in your kernel directory or by running:

# make menuconfig

The PPP features in the menuconfig tree are located in Device Drivers --> Network Device Support --> PPP support

Hi.

I can't seem to find the wvdial package when doing opkg list. Is it not included in TI's linux?

Hi,

It seems like it isn't included in the Arago filesystem from the TI SDK.
