UART IN AM335X Starter Kit

Hi All,

I want to interface one device with the AM335x starter kit through UART Interface. As i have searched and found that there are 6 UARTs which are present in AM335x processor . But i want to know which UART port is free out of 6 UARTs in starter kit. As per my requirement i want only three wires to be take out from kit - TXD, RXD and GND. I tried to find out from which place in kit i can take out four wires but didn't anything. Can someone help me out for this issue?

Hi Amit,

There is an unpopulated pin header J11 on the SK board. UART2 signals can be pinmuxed to it. There is also 3.3V and GND present on J11. Please note that the UART signals will be at 3.3V signal levels and if you want to connect to PC COM port you will need an external level translator. Hi Biser,

I have RS232 to 3.3V TTL (port powered) converter and it has two ends.(http://www.serialcomm.com/serial_rs232_converters/rs232_rs485_to_ttl_converters/rs232_to_3v_ttl_converter/rs232_to_3v_ttl.product_general_info.aspx) I will connect one end(3.3V TTL) of the converter to the Starter kit and other one which is RS232 end will be connected with the PC COM Port. Then i don't need any external level translator.

Is my understanding of above is correct?

My second query is i want to interface a board having MSP430 with starter kit. UART TX and RX for MSP430 have voltage level of 3.3V . Can i directly interface the MSP430 board with starter kit. It dont need any external level translator.

Is my understanding of above is correct?
