Im designing a board with Beagle Bone Black and 18 Bit RGB LCD. Is there any problem if i connect the 18 LCD data lines from connector P9 to LCD.

No, these are the correct lines, only it's connector P8 on the BB Black, not P9.

but im using 18 bit RGB TFT LCD module and as per AM335x ARM® Cortex™-A8 Microprocessors (MPUs) Technical Reference Manual, for active TFT mode either LCD_DATA[15:0] or LCD_DATA[15:0] is suggested. So can I go for LCD_DATA[17:0] or 18bpp mode for my TFT LCD

Yes you can. You have to configure software for RGB-888 (24-bit), but you can pinmux only the highest 6 bits of each color as LCD data pins. I forgot to tell you - take a look at Errata section 3.1.1 for the color assignments for each pin in RGB-888 mode.

Hi ,

Thanks a lot for this subject. i also need the same thing for my screen. I wanted to use a hdmi / 40 pin RGB controller based on tfp401 + ar1100 TSC but by seeing this post, may be i will design my own beaglebone black cape and use integrated TCS and LCD controller ...

1) But is it using PRU ?
2) does it take a lot of ressource if i do a lot of thing around ?
