Hello,

We are using the AM335x in a WINCE 1Mbaud Can bus application. On a bus with 5 nodes including a Kvasar Can monitor (and a scope with CAN triggering) we can monitor CAN messages with a unique identifier. We are experiencing dropped messages from the DCAN module at a rate of about 1 per 1000 messages. We are able to confirm this by looking at both the CAN monitor and scope that the data was present on the bus.

I would like to know if there us any known issues or errata concerning the DCAN message handler in the AM335x. I would appreciate any help in this regard.

Hi Mitch,

WinCE is a third-party software and is not supported by TI. All known AM335X errata are listed in the document: http://www.ti.com/lit/er/sprz360f/sprz360f.pdf

Biser,

In April of 2014 you had a similar question posed by someone experiencing in unexpected data loss in the DCAN message buffers. Even though they were using Linux, the symptom sounds very similar and may be independent of the OS used.
Do you happen to have any more information on that case?

Biser,

One more question. How does the DCAN message handler state machine handle CAN messages with the same ID with respect to message objects. ie If a CAN message arrives with the same ID as the message before it and the higher level software has not read the message object in message RAM, will the state machine assign it to the next available message object?

Hi Biser and Mitch,

i wanna use the AM3359 in industrial plc application. We need the CAN Controller and we have the same question about the handling of message with the same identifier. It is neccessary that they will be stored in the next free message buffer and there is no override. A colleague has started to work with the CAN on our own board and he reported message lost Interrupts.

Hi Biser and Mitch,

we use the AM3359 in an industrial Profinet io module application. for a new project we wanna use it in an industrial plc application where we need the CAN Controller. For use it is also very important that CAN Frames with identical identifier are all stored in the FIFO and there will no override. Could you please confirm this will work.
