Sir, is it possible to access the HDMI port in EVM AM437X to connect bigger external display module. if not possible. which port can i use to connect bigger display module with EVM AM437X. Regards K.Manjunathan. PSGIAS.

Hi,

Yes, it is possible, but you need to use the am437x-gp-evm-hdmi.dts instead of am437x-gp-evm.dts

How to access the am437x-gp-evm-hdmi.dts instead of am437x-gp-evm.dts in EVM module. is it to be done in Linux terminal window?.

Hi K. Manjunathan,

Do you boot your board with SD card with prebuilt images on it?
If yes, then you can go to the rootfs partition on the sdcard & rename the file, so that linux kernel will use it by default. I.e. insert your sdcard in card reader and from the host computer execute the following commands:
x0155517@mms:~$ cd /media/rootfs/boot
x0155517@mms:/media/rootfs/boot$ sudo mv devicetree-zImage-am437x-gp-evm.dtb ./devicetree-zImage-am437x-gp-evm.dtb.old
x0155517@mms:/media/rootfs/boot$ sudo mv devicetree-zImage-am437x-gp-evm-hdmi.dtb ./devicetree-zImage-am437x-gp-evm.dtb

Insert back the sdcard in your am437x evm & boot the board. Using this file the HDMI display should work.

I have tried your suggestion. now matrix gui get stopped , but i didn't get any display in the 15' inch monitor. i am using HDMI to 15 pin VGA converter is it correct ?

or else we need to use direct HDMI TO HDMI....

Hi,
You need to add omapdss.def_disp=display1 & omapfb.mode=display1:1024x768MR-24@60 in your boot args. HDMI can be enabled only at boot time.

Note that last wiki page uses nfs boot, you may want to change that to boot from mmc (use only the relevant omapdss & omapfb parameters.
