Linux Splash screen in Kernel

Hi,

I'm using an AM335x board and processor-SDK-01.00.00.00.

Its graphics system feature is DRM now instead of FBDEV.

Is there anyone who has been experienced to implement kernel splash screen in DRM display feature?

I added u-boot splash screen already but it was disappeared soon while kernel boot-up.

I found many useful links about splash or tux screen in kernel fbdev model but couldn't see any reference in case of drm model.

please help me out.

Hi Luke,

The splash screen is called from /usr/bin/psplash.
Have you tried this: e2e.ti.com/.../325588

Another way is to remove the psplash call from /etc/init.d/ and from the /etc/rcX.d/ folders and use the standard procedures for enabling the spalsh screen.

Hi Yordan,

Thank you for quick response.
The time of psplash in user space may be too late to meet my customer's requirement.
It can show logo 2 seconds earlier than psplash if it will display splash screen once DRM is initialized.
I firstly added boot logo in u-boot stage.
But I couldn't keep this screen until starting of target application.

Hi Luke,

Then have you tried removing the psplash from init.d/ & rcX.d/ and using the logos in drivers/video/logo?
You can add the sources by modifying the singlecore-omap2plus_defconfig file.
