AM5728 IVAHD h264 codec performance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728

Hi,

We have a standalone h264 encoder-decoder application (uses TI h264 codecs) running on IPU2. For a 1920x1080 frame encode/decode, we see that the codec is taking 17-18ms for encode/decode operation. And hence we are able to operate at approximately 56fps. As AM5728 can do 1080p60 encode/decode, we are trying to analyze what the issue could be.

We have clocked IPU at 212.8MHz and IVAHD at 532MHz. Also we have seen to that the voltage settings are appropriate for this clock. Do we need to check any other clock or voltage settings which can affect the codec throughput?

Also we have replaced tiler memory with raw memory. Will using raw memory instead of tiler memory affect the performance? If so by how much?

Regards,
