AM5726: GP EVM pulldown resistor on CAP_VDDRAM_MPU1

Part Number: AM5726

Hi.  I'm looking at the AM572x General Purpose (GP) EVM schematic v.A3a (pp.9) and it shows a 220Ω (R417) pull-down on the CAP_VDDRAM_MPU1 pin (K16).  What's the purpose of this PD?  Is it supposed slow the rise time of the internal SRAM supply?  Is it necessary?

Thanks,

Charles McCarthy

  • Hi,

It seems this pulldown is left over from earlier board designs, possibly with SR1.1 devices. Its primary purpose is to discharge the capacitor quickly when power is removed. I don't see it on later designs, e.g. the AM572x IDK, so I assume that it's not necessary.
