Hello

I have two questions related to PCM2704C IC:

1. I think that analog outputs of PCM2704C are equal to PCM2706C and therefore can be used for headphones also?

2. What protections are present at the analog outputs? Short-circuit of any output to GND is ok? Short-circuit between outputs is ok? other?

Hi Joao,

1. The output capability of these devices are the same, you can also drive headphones with them.

2. The output features ESD protection, but does not feature short circuit protection. We specify a minimum of 16Ω loads, so shorts on the output should be avoided. That being said, you could insert an small series resistor (4-8Ω) and the recommend series capacitor will help with avoiding short circuit conditions.
