PCM2903C: Schematic Review

Part Number: PCM2903C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3244, NE5532, , TUSB2046B

Hello E2E Team,

I am designing an Audio Amplifier (3 Zones) likes the following:

USB Hub (TUSB2046B) -> 3 x { Audio USB converter (PCM2903C) -> Pre-Amp (NE5532) -> Audio Amp (TPA3244) }

Attached is the schematic just for one zone with the USB Hub and without Audio Amp, can you please review the schematic and give me your notes in case there is any mistake?

 Especially the following points:

  • USB wiring between the hub and PCM.
  • VBUS (on SEL1) is one for the another 2 zones, is this correct ?
  • The voltage on pullup resistor (R52), should it be VCC(3V3) , USB_LDO, or the output from AND gate?
  • BUSPWR (Hub pin 8 ) should it be tied to GND or to USB_LDO?

Thanks in advance5415.Audio Amp.pdf

  • Hi Mohamad,

    Each of these products is supported by a different group, but I don't see any issues with the connections around PCM2903C. The R52 resistor should be pulled up to VDD, which will be typically be 3.3V.

    PCM2903C is a self-powered device (meaning it requires an external 3.3V source and does not power directly from VBUS) and thus I believe you should tie the BUSPWR pin low.

    Best,

    Zak
