500W class-D amplifier design

Hi team,

One of our customers needs to design a 500W class-D amplifier for broadcast. Currently, high-power MOS tubes and the corresponding gatedirver have been found, but it is not clear how the front end should be designed, including processes the input signal, carrier, comparators, etc. Can you provide some guidance? Is there anything that needs special attention? Or recommended chip

    Could you share more detail audio spec? Like speaker resistance, channels, etc?

    Do you consider integrated class-D amp? We have below recommendations,

    TPA3255, integrated analog input audio amp; 

    TAS5634, integrated audio power stage; it's a PWM input device, which is usually used together with TI audio processor TAS5548/58.

    Thank you for the information, but I am afraid it won't meet the requirements.

     The requirements:

    1. Channel: Mono.

    2. Produces a voltage of 120V. Power is 500~600W.

    3. The load is multiple speakers in parallel.

    The customer intends to build a Class D amplifier with discrete components. Whether there are associated circuits, especially the front stage amplification and then the comparator modulation to produce PWM waves, and PWM controlled driver circuit section?

  • Hi Amy,

    You may take a look at TAS5548/58. It accepts the digital audio input (I2S, TDM, etc...), and output the PWM which can go directly to the gate drivers.
