TAS5754M: Set amplifier output

Part Number: TAS5754M

Dear team

There is a good news that we design in TAS5754M in customer's new project. Customer want to confirm if it is possible.

In below block diagram, the TAS5754M for WF1 and WF2, can we use hardware configuration to set amplifier output left channel or right in mono PBTL mode?

Many thanks

Denny

  • Hi Denny,

Thank you for sharing the wonderful news! I always love hearing when a customer is moving forward with us.

I recommend looking at section 8.3.9.4.2 Mono Mode of the datasheet for more detail but to summarize, you can select the audio source for the mono PBTL channel to be from the left, right, or mix of the signals.

    Best Regards,

    Robert Clifton

  • Hi Robert

Thanks for your information and great support.

Customer have two questions, could you help to reply.

    1. It's mean we need  to select right audio source from SoC, not config TAS5754M, right?

    2. Can we use register P0-R42 in Mono Mode(section 8.3.9.4.2)?

    many thanks

    Denny

  • Hi Denny,

    1. You can configure the TAS5754M to use the right audio source.

    2. I believe you can use that register in mono mode. Lots of customers actually use the hybrid flow processor to mix and process the signals. I'm not sure if you have taken a look at our Using the TAS5754/6M and PCM5242 HybridFlow Processor guide. This might help quicken the customers development plan if they haven't taken a look already.

  • Hi Robert

Thanks for your information and great support.

Customer have one question, could you help to reply?

In other words, we check the user's guide of HybridFlow Processor, there is a HF4 on cross reference, I think Mono PBTL mode belongs to this reference, right?

In HF4 reference, the mono path is labeled as Channel C. The first stage of this HybridFlow includes a Mix function which mixes the stereo digital input into a single mono channel of Left only, Right only, or (L+R)/2 audio data. perhaps P0-R40 is not used for this mix function, can you tell me which register to control mix function?

Because we have two TAS5754M in Mono PBTL mode, both of them share a digital data line, we want to set one to mix Left only, and the other one set to mix Right only. Is this possible?

    many thanks

    Denny

  • Hi Denny,

Yes, it's possible. The PPC2 GUI for TAS5754 has the options as you mentioned. The mixer registers are in Page 33, reg 0x1C~0x1F for left channel, 0x20~0x23 for right channel.

General developing approach is customer using the GUI to do tuning, and dump out the configurations into a .h file to be integrated on customer's systems.

Are you able to use this approach?

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Sam
