Hello,

I am starting to evaluate your TAS5825M product and am quite interested in using the speaker characterization for improved performance. I had no problems importing the frequency response SPL data for the woofer and tweeter but it seems there is no way to import measured data for the impedance curves etc. I have read about the "learning" EVM but it seems it is geared towards much smaller drivers as those used in tablets, laptops etc.

My application is a two way (woofer & Tweeter) system comprised of a 5 inch woofer and a 3/4 dome tweeter and I was hoping to use some of the advanced functionality that the TAS5825M offers in its DSP processor. My question is this; Is there a way to import characterization data directly into the Purepath console from other tools other than the PP-SALB2-EVM learning board?

If the PP-SALB2-EVM is absolutely required, will the characterization data be useful in my application? At a $999.00 cost I need to know if it will provide useful data.

Hello Jim,

We are currently in the process of updating the PP-SALB-EVM for the mid power products that should be releasing in the coming months, the PP-SALB2-EVM can get some of the speaker characterization parameters but is primarily used for a different set of devices for smaller drivers so you would need to manually input some of the parameters the board extract.

I understand. Is there a date when the mid-power products will be supported. I am on a schedule and it would be helpful to know that information.

With regards to the manual input, exactly how is that accomplished? What is the file/data format that needs to be used? Can all characterization data be manually input or just some? If some, which data? My biggest issue is with the impedance/excursion data and the thermal/power data. BTW - I see Mouser says the current PP-SALB-EVM is EOL. I assume it's because TI is going to update it?

The only data I have been able to manually input is the SPL data from the woofer and tweeter.

Hello Jim,

The PP-SALB-EVM will be available in limited quantities in the next 2 months due to certain device shortages. We will have a large build/release toward the end of October.

I would still like to know if I can load my own data into the Purepath console without using the learning board and How would this be accomplished.

Hello Albert,

In the characterization Panel you click the panel you can manually input the parameters if you have them from a Klippel Characterization for example.

Hello Jim,

You need to manually input the Klippel characterization parameters into the Speaker characterization tab.
