TLV320AIC3105: Function of HPxOUT Volume Control Status bit

Part Number: TLV320AIC3105

Hello,

Our customer has curiosity of P0 R51 D1 "HPLOUT Volume Control Status" function.

0: All programmed gains to HPLOUT have been applied

Reset value   1: Not all programmed gains to HPLOUT have been applied yet

Just right after reset, before Power up HP amp, this bit is already changed to "0"

Then right after Power up HP amp, it is changed to "1" and keeping this status.

It is quite simple question,  how can we understand "programmed gain change" status from this indication?

I have expected this bit indicate " Output Volume Control Soft-Stepping process" was done inside DAC to avoid zipper noise.

Is this typo in 1 and 0 in the datasheet?

  • Hi Mochizuki,

This is actually a data sheet error and should read:

D1 = 0 When "Not all programmed gains to HPLOUT have been applied yet"

D1 = 1 When "All programmed gains to HPLOUT have been applied"

    Reset value for D1 = 0.

I apologize for the confusion here. Since there is a soft-stepping feature implemented, it may take time for the gain to settle for large changes in the gain. This register is there to notify if the gain has settled to it's programmed value.
