Hi team,
My customer is using 2.2uF/35V boot cap due to shortage of 1uF for TAS6424L. Could you help to advise the calculation how choosing this cap?
Thanks!
James

Hi James,
The value of the bootstrap capacitor is driven by the storage of the bootstrap voltage when the audio signal is near clipping at low audio frequencies. The capacitor values were determined by empirical data. By increasing the value to 2.2uF from 1uF you will have improved the storage capability.
Hi Gregg,
Thanks for the quick reply.
But do we have some kind of calculation formula for this boot cap?
James
James,
If you look at this app note: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua887/slua887.pdf in section 3.1, the calculation is shown. As you can see it is not trivial.
