PCM2705C: Internal ESD Structure

Part Number: PCM2705C

Hello,

What kind of internal ESD protection structures are built into the PCM2705C?

We have a board that will be protected inside a metal chassis and the USB cable connected to it will be fixed in place.

The current ESD protection devices are interfering with the board operation.  This has been confirmed because once we removed them the design works perfectly.

We don't have time to redesign the board and using trace cuts/jumpers may not be an option

I am trying to gauge how much protection, if any, is built into the PCM2705C

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,

Ben Schroeder

  • Hi  Ben,

Every pin on this device has an ESD protection structure that is rated to protect the device against standard JEDEC ESD definitions.

This is a standard, commercial grade device and I am not aware of any ESD related failures that would indicate any specific weakness.

    Thanks,

    Paul
