Dear TI Professional,

(1) Can you provide me any link to documentation on calculating and uploading DRC/DRC2 coefficients?

(2) PPS provides an address where the coefficients are supposed to be loaded but can you provide information as to the format and order of the data to be uploaded?

Hi Phil,

Have you gone through the help pages for the DRC blocks in PPS? You can access these by right clicking any of the blocks in the GDE. They include a lot of information about the various parameters and the format of each coefficient.

No. I was using the help in the properties of the DRC and that wasn't much help.

Zak,

I am a bit confused about calculating the variables ae, aa, and ad. Given the user defined time values of energy, attack, and delay, the ae, aa, and ad are derived but it is not clear to me.

I saw this formula in the TAS57xxx doc, SLOA148:

ae = 1 - pow(E,(-1000)/(Fs * e));

Fs = 48000;
e = User defined energy value of 1000 (ms)
E = Euler's Number (2.7182818284590452353602874713527)

The result is pretty close to what PPS calculates.

Not sure what do about aa and ad. I have seen general rules of thumb but no real formulas.

Hi Phil,

I'm really not an expert on these algorithms, but I think some of the useful information is distributed across multiple help pages. If you look in the DRC lite page you will find the same formula you have presented for ae just rearranged, as well as similar formulas for aa and ad.
