TLV320AIC26 differential mode "phase shift"

I have been working with the 'aic26 and the CC1110 in an audio voice comms project similar to the AN082 app note. I am running a single speaker from HPR and HPL outputs in a capless differential configuration. At a 7.1KHz sample rate, there is an audible level shift on the DAC outputs. This was confirmed as a phase shift between the two outputs at about a one second period. At 8 KHz, the period is much longer, but still pronounced. Has anyone else run into this? I assume it is a PLL issue and wonder why the period is so long, and apparently unrelated to any other counter or timing period in the software. Is there a work around, or maybe a sample rate where this does not happen? I hate to jump ship for another codec, and don't want to have the same issue with another part.

Thanks for any help,

Ron
