TAS5825M: DC Fault description

Part Number: TAS5825M

Audio team,

Can you describe what would cause the DC Fault on the TAS5825M?  (register 0x70 = 0x04)  The customer is experiencing this and would like more detail on what could lead to this fault condition, causing the part to go into protect mode?

This is happening on their own designs, not the EVM.

Thanks,

Darren

  • Hello Darren,

The DC protection will check whether output voltage exceeds certain level for a period time (eg more than 250ms ) to determine DC fault.

So the behavior for DC fault detections is described as follows : PVDD*(PWM_P – PWM_N)>DC error threshold, which lasts more than DC detection time. So if the duty cycle N or P results in it exceeding the threshold for that amount of time a DC fault is generated.

    best regards.
