TPA0211: SE mode.

Hi team,

I'd like to know the Vo-pin status in SE mode.
According to the datasheet, it said the load is driven from one amplifier output (VO+, terminal 5).
Is the Vo- pin HiZ in SE mode?

Is there any sound coming from the speakers connected to Vo-pin?

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

There is no sound coming out of Vo- when the device is set to single-ended mode.
Most likely the negative output amplifiers are disconnected from the audio source in single-ended mode, or the bypass is disabled for these.

is there a specific use case you want to verify? There is an EVM available if you want to test the actual behavior.

  • Hi Ivan,

    Thank you for your reply.

My customer was able to confirm that sound was produced depending on the connection method in Single-end mode.

    1. There is a sound.

    2.No sound.

3.There is a very small sound.

Are there any conditions for wiring to produce sound even in SE mode?

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

I'm not clear on what is the intention, does customer wants to get sound on Vo- even during SE mode?
If they want sound on both Vo- and Vo+, they should use BTL mode, if their intention is to use two separate output channels they will have inverted signals.

  • Hi Ivan,

    Thank you for your reply.

You said Vo- was disconnected from the audio source or the bypass is disabled in SE mode.
    In the circuit of No3, a small voltage(Vo+ * 1/20)
    is output from Vo-.
Vo- was disconnected from the audio source, so is this voltage leaking?

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

Most likely this voltage is leaking from the input through the feedback resistors in the Vo- path.
