TPA2016D2: TPA2016D2:

Part Number: TPA2016D2

Hi, team I'm using TPA2016D2 for one of my project I'm not able to configure negative dB settings .

1. I  tried all methods given in datasheet setting Compression ratio and setting the all registers WRT data sheet But i'm not able to achieve -dB voltage at the out put.

2. +ve dB  I'm abele to achieve .

please help me out.

  • Hi Santhosh,

Please notice that gain can only be positive if Compression is disabled, if you're doing this already please share your configuration details and test results, I'll check if we can replicate similar test in the lab.

  • Hi,

    1. My input is 3.3V pulse (Tone From Microcontroller ) I need to reduce the output amplitude of this pulse(3.3V to 0). For my understanding of this data sheet needs to set compression ratio of 2:1 and Fixed gain of -2dB ,  but after setting my compression ratio, The output of the amplifier is equal to input only(0dB change ). As per the Data sheet for fixed gain of -ve dB also not changing and +VE dB is changing.

    2. is there any other way to achieve -VE dB output. or we need to reduce the input amplitude of the pulse.

  • Hi Santhosh,

I'm setting up one EVM to test on my side, I expect to have some results early next week and I'll get back to you with further updates.

  • Hi Santhosh,

A quick update, I'm not able to test this device so far. The GUI is not communicating the the EVM. I'll try some specific settings using direct I2C communication although this may take some additional time.

I'll provide further updates later this week.

  • @Ivan Salazar  Thank you I'm also testing with direct I2C , once your test is done please let me know.

  • Santhosh,

Will try to get you some updates by Friday, otherwise will let you know if need to get more time early next week.

  • Hi Santhosh,

Sorry for late response. I tested the gain on AGC controls from TPA2016D2, attached are some plots to show the results but a summary is that attenuation is not possible. The negative gain settings for compressor set to other than 1:1 is basically moving the gain slope offset, but once it reaches 1:1 curve it follows 1:1 gain, no attenuation.
