TPA3118D2: Set up for using a single amplifier

Part Number: TPA3118D2

Is there anything special that needs to be done to use just one side of the the stereo chip.. Does connecting both inputs to ground disable that channel of the amp..?

If that is the case then I would not have to install the boot strapping capacitors. . Is that correct.

  • Hello, Richard.

By reviewing the TPA3118D2 datasheet in page 24, the pins INPL and INNL should be connected directly to ground and don’t need the capacitors, this sets the device in mono mode. The input goes in the right channel and the output can be configured as it is seen in the lower part of the schematic in page 26 (the device U2 which is functioning as slave).

    I hope this helps.

    Regards.

    Andres.
