Hello I am implementing limited speech capability to consumer Li-Ion powered device.  We use uC PWM for the DAC -> TPA301(BTL configuration) -> 8ohm (0.3w speaker) at 2.5V.  sound is intelligable but not loud enough.  I want same volume as a cellphone speakerphone, we dont have earpiece, does TI have such amplifiers and reference designs?-a

    Hi, Andrew,

    What gain are you running the TPA301 at? Is it clipping? You probably need a higher voltage supply to drive the power amp from in order to get better loudness, unless you used one of our boosted class-D amps like TPA2013D1 or TPA2015D1.

    Hi D2,

    You were correct twas my voltage causing low volume 2.5V.  Those modules look good.  

     

    meantime I am going to use a 4ohm speaker, and I see that TPA301 is rated for 8ohm only, although sounds fine with 4ohm testing.  Can you confirm for me that  TPA6211A1DGN is drop in replacement for TPA301DGN?
