Streaming three tracks audio from cellphone to our device

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with an audio device. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

We are looking for a development-kit or something else that can help us with rapid development of an audio device which can be streamed to from a mobile phone (iPhone and Android).

The one major thing that differ from a standard solution is that we need to stream three separate tracks and not only two tracks (stereo).

Does TI have any development-kit that can be helpful with such project?

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi,

Good Day. Is there any update on customer's query. Thank you very much.

  • Hi Ray,

I assume you're looking for Bluetooth audio streaming, correct?

Your query was assigned to amplifiers team but I think you need more help with the wireless streaming setup, let me reassign this to better related team.

  • Hi,

I think you should mention which protocol is expected here: Bluetooth Classic? Wifi? Bluetooth LE? Other?

In addition, are the customers willing to develop their own mobile application or do they expect to use the existing audio profile of the phone? For the latter option, only Bluetooth Classic will work.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Clement,

Good Day. Please see below the response of our customer to your reply. Thank you very much.

The customer expect to develop their own mobile application when the hardware has passed POC.
Regarding the protocol, I haven't been able to decide other than some kind of Bluetooth communication.

One issue is that Bluetooth is only two channels (stereo), and not the required three channels, and another requirement to the design is that during the 'audio streaming' some data needs to be streamed back to the mobile application.

Right now I consider to move the responsibility of playing the audio from the mobile to our design, se we only need to stream timestamp and data back to mobile application. If we decide to go this way then we can copy the three channel audio file to the hardware as data via BT, and then remote from the mobile application.

Doing this we only need to design a three channel player.

  • Hi,

Given the fact the customer does not have strong requirements on the RF protocol, it would be nice to give more details on the throughput required. Maybe you could also discuss the codec they want to use.
