TAS5766M: Clarification on EVK's and different Models of Smart Amplifier

Hello,

I have the following Queries related to different Smart Amplifier, EVK's and Pure Path Mother Board:

1) Difference between following Smart Amplifier, other than wattage:

  1. In the above is there any difference between TAS5768M and TAS5766M, other than Modulation? And which is better if power is not an issue?
  2. Difference between TAS5782M and TAS576XM, other than wattage?

2) In following EVK's what is the difference as the pricing is almost double even when there is one amplifier that costs higher?

3) On the Pure Path Mother Board Product page, the TAS576XM series is not listed, does it support EVK's mentioned in point 2?

4) What would be the major use of the Speaker Characterization Tool?

  1.  When should we consider buying it, as it is very expensive?
  2. Is there any alternative for the same?
  3. And Does it support the Smart Amplifiers mentioned in Point 1?

    Hi Ajit

       The main difference between 5766 and 5768 is the package. You can consider they are the same.

       5782 and 576x have different DSP structures. 5782 can realize more complicated functions. This is more obvious when you check their APPs in PPC3.

       The two EVM 5766MD and MR, their BOM is almost double than each other. Not only MR have two amp, also two set of peripheral devices, double the PCB area. I think the price is reasonable.

       The mother board supports the TAS576x series.

       The Smart Amp tools enables significant improvement of sound quality, peak power output and system reliability with intelligent predictive algorithms. When our customer want to realize high quality sound effect, they'll need these tools. No alternative for now. The 57 series mentioned before support the smart amp.
