LM4940: Input specs not clear from the data sheet?

Part Number: LM4940

Hi I'd like to use LM4940 in my design but I'd like to double-ckeck the specs for the input. From the data-sheet it seems I can just use a headphone (2.5V p-p) output or line-out (0.5V p-p) signal but the absolute max ratings mention that pins 1 and 9 should always stay in the -0.3 to 9.5V region, which it suggests they do not like any negative voltages.

The internal schematic suggests that pin1 and 9 would be set indirectly from the bias node so in principle a 2.5V p-p signal at the input with VDD=12V should not create any issues as long as it's AC coupled through the Cin. Can somebody please confirm this?

In my application I need to use a headphones signal and amplify it to drive larger speakers which are connected to ground, as in the figure.

Please let me know asap

Thanks!
