I am posting this thread so that someone at TI can sticky this.
What I have found is by having a TI EVM board plugged in before starting PPC V2 causes nothing but problems.
Procedures for correct startup sequence
- Unplug all TI EVM boards from target PC.
- Start PPC V2 and you should see this exact GUI.
- Click the TI logo and from the drop down menu select "Add Target" to load the plugins. [Only have to do this once]
- Click on "Manually Choose A Target"
- Click on "PCM186x"
- Click "Ok" and the default configuration for PCM186x should appear
- Now you can plug in your USB cable from the TI EVM board.
- A popup should appear requesting to connect. Click on "Connect as PCM186x".
- If successful you should have a green light indication on the bottom left corner of the PPC V2 GUI.
This exact sequence has given me consistent USB connectivity and should be clearly stated in the user's guide. There should be one sequence for initial start of configuring PPC V2 with the plugins and then another sequence of how to connect a particular EVM board properly. If I have a TI EVM connected via USB BEFORE I start PPC V2 it will never connect. I suggest you start looking into "Hot Plug under Connect" functionality for your EVM boards so that customers do not have to plug and re-plug USB cables every time they want to use.
