DRV2700EVM-HV500: Regarding the trigger button

Part Number: DRV2700EVM-HV500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC3114, DRV2700EVM

Hi,

DRV2700EVM-HV500(EVM) has a trigger button for operation without using GUI. In order to use a trigger button, the MSP needs to be programmed. Could you write a program so that EVM can apply voltage to piezo triggered by electromotive force which comes out of pressed piezo?  If it can not, it seems that you need LDC3114 to detect the pressure and trigger EVM. But I have no idea how I should connect those two devices.

Best Regards,

  • Hello,

Could you clarify, are you asking how to get trigger to work?

Also no this "program so that EVM can apply voltage to piezo triggered by electromotive force which comes out of pressed piezo" would not be possible with this device.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I am asking how to get a signal for trigger using LDC3114 EVM. Is just pushing a sensor enough? I also want to ask how to send signal to DRV2700EVM-HV500 as a trigger and apply voltage to piezo.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello,

On the DRV2700EVM there is a trigger button that is there for user's that wish to program the MSP430 directly

    As seen here from datasheet:

To use the LDC3114 you would need to solder a wire onto the part of the board here where metal is exposed

  • Little hard to see but I circle in red towards top middle

  • Hello,

Thank you for your reply. You mean I have to connect LDC3114 between TRIG and C20? But I am not sure where to be solder on LDC3114. Could you tell me where to connect?
    Best Regards,

  • Hello

Not expert on that part but based on my interpretation of user guide you would have to solder from an output point correlated to a certain button press that goes into LDC3114, would be one of the traces that lead to these output LEDs or test points
