PGA2310EVM: Can I use a USB to Parallel converter with this evaluation board?

Part Number: PGA2310EVM

I would like to use the PGA2310EVM parallel port for easier control from the provided GUI. I don't have access to a computer with a parallel port so I bought this usb to parallel DB25 converter, compatible with USB1.1 and IEEE1284.

The EVM does not seem to connect correctly to the PC (using Windows 10). In the device manager the converter shows up under USB controllers as "No Printer Attached" and "USB Printing Support" but I see no way to set or access ports in the way to EVM Gui expects (e.g. 378h: LPT1).

I tried installing the additional PGA2310EVM software for Windows XP as well as trying it under different compatibility settings on the different addresses with no luck.

I have the board powered with +-15V and 5V digital. Is there a way to use this gui and parallel port or is the SPI my only way to control it?
