TAS5805M: EVM SPDIF Connection Instructions

It is not clear to us when we chose the SPDIF option for TAS5805MEVM if we still need to connect the EVM to purepath consol over USB. Is that required? If not, are we supposed to manually send I2C config commands? In the schematic, I didn't see any other I2C master but the XMOS USB chip. If you can please clarify the instructions for SPDIF connection and the source for I2C commands that would be great. Thx!

Hello Mustafa,

You still need to configure the EVM with either the I2C script or with PPC3 GUI you would just toggle the switch for the SPDIF input.

Okay, thanks. Is there a basic script we can reference if we just want to configure the amp in mono PBTL mode? Thanks!

Hello Mustafa,

You can generate it using system configuration for a 1.0 process flow and remove the EQ registers. Below is 3-band DRC & FIR(1.0 48k)

Thanks Luis. That worked. I did skip a few commands since they match the reset value. However, I noticed you were writing to registers 0x46, 0x7D and 0x7E in book 0 and page 0 but they were not listed in the datasheet. Can you please elaborate what are these for and if there are documented somewhere? Thank you.

Hello Mustafa,

These are reserved register configurations. This is not something that is or will be published and is why we highly suggest following the PPC3 dump out script for your system integration. They are needed to program the process flow.
