Linux driver for TAS6584

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS6584-Q1, TAS6424

  • Jaheri,

TAS6584 is not in mass production yet, so there is not linux driver support for TAS6584 device.

Usually we need to wait for resource available to develop linux driver, there is not a schedule until now.  I would recommend you to write your own linux driver based on register configurations.

  • Hi Dylan,
    Thank you for your reply.

The company I work for (Continental) I think is an enterprise customer for TI, is there any support that TI could give in order to develop a linux driver ?

    Regarding to next question:

    • In a recent version of Linux (for instance vanilla kernel) there is a driver for the device TAS6424 (linux-5.16/sound/soc/codecs/tas6424.c) but not for TAS6584-Q1:
      • Could this driver also be used for the TAS6584-Q1?
      • At least, can it be used as reference?

    Jaheri R.

  • Jaheri,

Yes, TAS6424 driver would be a good reference for TAS6584, as we just need to change the register configuration accordingly. other .C file can be reused.

As the device not fully released, so I sent you an email to offline talk about the configuration of TAS6584.
