TLV320AIC3101

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3101

Hi., Im gumilard

currently I have one a TLV320AIC3101EVM and TLV320AIC3101EVM-PDK., I had installed the software and hardware detected properly as described., I've never changed any jumper at both of the board's (TLV and USB motherboard) the jumper always on the same position as I bought.,

and the question is,, How do I can download my configuration into a TLV codec module when I done my configurations.

THx before

  • Gum,

I'm not very familiar with the AIC3101, but am somewhat familiar with the TAS1020B on the USB-MODEVM.

I think that the intent is that you use the GUI tool to determine the set of I2C commands that should be sent to the AIC3101 for initialization and then runtime as appropriate for however you intend to use the device.  Then, when you connect your AIC3101 in your system via I2C to a microcontroller, you have that micro send those I2C commands.

Is your question how to program the TAS1020B to initialize the AIC3101 without requiring use of the GUI?  Have you looked at the Data Manual for the TAS1020B, and the Firmware Development Kit for the TAS1020B?

    Regards,

    Frank

  • Frank,

thx so much for your reply frank., I dont mind about TAS1020B before., as your suggestion let me know about the TAS1020B.,  my desire is only how to using my codec (TLV320AIC3101) for my own audio project., about the GUI that I found from slac249 I guest it's only for a codec configuration.,

I have the datasheet and I'll looking for the firmware for TAS1020B. would you give me any steps to configuration my codec with the TAS1020B so that I can using my audio codec for my own project.,,

thx for your help before frank.,

  • Gum,

I can't quite tell from your response if you will be using a TAS1020B in your project or not.

If you are, you will need to write some custom code for the 8052 microcontroller in the TAS1020B for initialization of the TAS1020B registers, initialization of the AIC3101 codec, and runtime interaction (e.g., handling control transactions for USB descriptors and Audio Class queries/commands).

I can provide a sample application that you can start from, but it's going to require customization (by you).  For example, you would want to change the VendorId and ProductId, might want to change the supported sample rates/bit depths/channel counts, handle sleep mode, provide a HID interface for commands to the host, etc.

Is this what you are asking for?

    Frank

  • Frank,

Yea, as my previous response that I want to using only the codec on my project., I assume before that the TAS1020B (USB MODEM) can be used for only initialize my codec and then I can run my codec stand alone after.,

but might be youre right and So, would you like to give me a sample application that using TLV320AIC3101EVM and the TAS1020B USB MODEM INTERFACE?

    sorry for my zero experience

thanx frank, you are so helpfull..

  • Gum,

    2364.try7.zip

'try7' is a TAS1020B application that can be inserted into the EEPROM on the USB-MODEVM to utilize the 3101 without needing a host PC GUI.  The application makes the stereo stream from the 3101's microphones available to the USB.

'try7' initializes the 3101 in its codec.c - so you can see one way of doing that.

Since the EEPROM on the USB-MODEVM is soldered-down, it is not real easy to modify its program (nor is it easy to restore the original program should you want to do that afterward).  If you decide that you want to do that, please advise, and I'll send the tools and recipe.

    Regards,

    Frank

  • Frank ..

Thx frank, I clearly do now ... how a wonder product ..

    Thx

  • hi Frank
I do not have permission to view 2364.try.7.zip. I am studying TlV320AIC3101 now.would you like to give me a sample application that using TLV320AIC3101EVM and the TAS1020B USB MODEM INTERFACE?
    Thanks
