PCM1754: Want to know about MUTE pin of PCM1754.

Hi Expert,

This is Koki Tsushima.

My customer wants to know about MUTE pin of PCM1754.

Could you answer following two questions?

1. Does 14pin (MUTE) have tolerant functions etc.? Customer think so because absolute maximum rating of Vcc is -0.3V to 6.5V.

Is this correct? And if so, could you tell me that detail? i.e. tolerant functions for up to 6.5V when Vcc=0V etc.

2. Does 14pin (MUTE) have internal pull-down resister? What value is it?

Tsushima-san,

The mute pin is most likely not tolerant. Due to relocations of design teams and the age of the part, detailed information like the pull down resisitor is not readily accessible.

But it seems to be there are differences of ranges.

i.e. There are Vcc is within Absolute Maximum range, but out of Operating conditions as follows, like 6.5V for example,

It shouldn't bebroken device. Is this correct?

But if so, why are there no tolerance function?

I guess the device will be multifunction on Absolute Maximum range, but out of Operating conditions . Is it OK for you?

Is it possible to tell me when you can know value of pull-down resister?

Since the design team doesn't believe there is tolerant functions, the device probably can resist harm when Vcc < 6.5 but will suffer performance quality loss when Vcc > 5.5V. As long as Vcc < 6.5V the device will not be broken.

I'm not sure we have the resources to support the effort to get that info, but to speed up the process reach out to our design team contact

Sorry but please confirm me one more thing.

Does the device not be broken when Voltage was added at MUTEPIN when Vcc=0V?

I think this is true.

As long as you are not going over any documented maximum, the device should not be harmed.
