TLV320DAC3203: Two independent Mono Audio outputs

Part Number: TLV320DAC3203

Hello Sir,

In our existing design we are using TLV320DAC3203IRGER device for single channel mono audio output. Now we require two Mono output audio channel outputs and we want to reuse the existing design to reduce effort.

So can I add another device TLV320DAC3203IRGER for second Mono audio output and the same I2S bus connected in parallel? Will it work (simultaneously both audio need to work) or any other better option?

thank you

Johnson John

  • Hi Johnson,

Can you clarify why you would need a second device? If you need dual mono, you can feed the 3203 a dual mono I2S bus and it will decode it the same way.

    Best regards,

    Jeff

  • HI Jeff,

    thank you for the response.

My requirement is, Two independent Mono audio outputs ( two different audio data) and run simultaneously. As we have already using 3203 device and want to reuse it.

Could you share more details what you mean in your response " If you need dual mono, you can feed the 3203 a dual mono I2S bus and it will decode it the same way" [What are changes do I need to do in hardware circuit and concept of dual mono I2S bus]

    thank you

  • Hi Johnson,

What I mean is that the DAC does not care if the I2S bus is sending a stereo L and R data, or two different audio signals on the L and R channels. The latter is called "dual mono." If you send a bus with mono signal 1 on the L, and mono signal 2 on the R it will work the same.

Let me clarify, do you want to send two different mono signals, or do you want to have two channels of the same mono signal?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

Good, now I understood and you clarified/answered!

thank you for the prompt responses!

    thank you
