PCM2912A: Operating temperature range

Hi Sir,

In our application, the ambient operating temperature range is -40degC to 80degC. But the PCM2912A part is specified only for -25degC to 85degC. We would like to understand the impact if it is operated at -40degC? Can you please share more details?

I checked this. this is an old part and there is no design or characterization data available that can help to arrive at component behavior if we exceed specified temperature range. Therefore we would suggest not to operate the part outside datasheet specifications. This might give functional /reliability issues

Since it is an old part, Do TI have alternate new part? our requirement is simple, "USB based Audio codec device for Mono audio output which supports -40degC to 85degC"?

All our parts support operating temperatures of -25 deg.

Could you please clarify, you said that if we operate the device at -40degC it will give "functional /reliability issues", does it mean that it will not work at all or some device will work and others will not work?

We do not have measurement data at this temperature.. Therefore we cannot comment on the performance with certainty. Operation outside the temperature specs might result in the device failing or not operating with datasheet performance.
