PCM5102A: Need help understanding origin of these "artifacts"

Some background:

FS = 190kHz

BCK = 64xFS

Not using SCK

I am generating an amplitude modulated signal. The FFT of the digital signal before leaving the DAC looks like this:

The FFT of the signal after leaving the DAC looks like this:

So there are some "undesired" sidelobes on either side of the "desired" output (I am referring to the humps directly adjacent, not any of the other noise).

I know that operating at this rate means the interpolation filter is only x2, and the default analog RC filter is not sufficient to properly reconstruct the output. But that deals with images generated at 384kHz-57kHz, and beyond, as far as I know.


So I am lacking the understanding of what these particular sidelobe artifacts can be attributed to. If anyone can help me understand that would be great Slight smile

Also, if there is some way to reduce/avoid them, whether it is possible with this DAC or using a different DAC, etc. Thanks!
