TAS5766M: Practical application of chips

Part Number: TAS5766M

Tas5766 has some problems, please help solve them.

1. Under normal conditions, when EQ is not added, DC15V is used to supply 4 ohm load, and the maximum output of horn end is about 9V, which begins to be distorted.

2. When EQ is added, other conditions are the same, and the maximum 2V output at the horn end will be distorted. It is tested with demo board. There must be a problem. Please help to see how to solve it?

  • Hi Tonyx.

    1. About the first condition, can you tell me the value of clipping voltage. I think this may caused by the larger DCR of the inductor, you can verify this by remove the whole output filter and use AP to detect the output waveform which can filter the high frequency.

    2. About the second question, I think this may caused by the wrong set of the EQ coefficient. Can you provide the PPC3 file for us to take a check.

  • In the first figure above, DC15V power supply, 4 ohm load, maximum undistorted (1% distortion) output 9.2v (about 21W), which is normal. This is a reference for explaining the abnormal parameters of the second figure.

In the second picture, after setting EQ, the maximum undistorted (1% distortion) output is only about 2.5V (about 1.5W), and the sound is abnormal (input 500Hz, 800mv sinusoidal waveform). Please refer to the attachment for CFG documents.I can't upload the ppc3 file set by Eq. I'll send it to you separately if you can provide your email.
