PCM6240-Q1: Application questions

Part Number: PCM6240-Q1

Dear team,

Could you please help answer below questions?

1. If the input is AUX input, which input type should I choose, Microphone input or Line input?

2. If the input is AC-coupled, then our device can't support DC fault diagnostic. If I still enable the diagnostic, is there any bad impact?

3. Could you please help clarify DIAG_CFG0 Register bit0=1? When using AC-coupled input, our device can't support diagnostic, then what is this bit meaning?

4. When using AC-coupled input, how do we do diagnostics?

5. When INT_MASK is configured Mask, IRQ won't be triggered, but LTCH bit will still be set to 1 when error occurs, right?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Sherry

  • 1. Normally line Input should be considered. What are your signal levels at Aux

    2. Perhaps if we have very Large Coupling Capacitors. at Startup when the capacitors are charging you might see faults for short time(Short to GND Fault). These will go away once capacitors reach steady state.

    3. the diagnostic uses comparators to detect if an input pin is below a reference level. If we have a coupling capacitor and if the Mic wire  is ground though a fault then the cap shall serve as a dc block and the input pin shall not see this fault

The DIAG_CFGO disables the function of Diagnostic

4.Diagnostic generally works with DC Coupled inputs.
