TAS6584Q1EVM: Too high power consumption in sleep mode

Part Number: TAS6584Q1EVM

Hi.

I'm testing the TAS6584Q1EVM. With all the 4 channels in sleep mode the power consumption is about 2W. Is it normal? I expected a lower value.

  • Hi Giampiero

Could you please tell us more details about how you test out this value? The PVDD and VBAT voltage you are using, also at which point you tested the voltage and current? The TAS6584Q1 device shouldn't have so much consumption. But the EVM has a lot of other devices, they will continue working no matter TAS6584Q1 is working or sleep. The whole EVM board have this power consumption is normal.

  • Hi!

    We have found the solution!

We had originally connected PVDD and VBAT together,  so the internal Voltage Regulator consumed a fixed current value.

We simply supplied VBAT with a voltage value lower  than PVDD and the IVR shut down and then the fixed power consumption disappeared.

Now the power consumption is that we expeced.

  • Hi Giampiero

Glad to hear we solved this problem!
