Recommendation for a DSP Developers Kit

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I am hoping to get a formal recommendation from a TI applications engineer for a DSP development kit best suited for musical instrument (audio) sound effects development. I do not have extensive experience with DSP development, but I know a brilliant engineer who has expressed an interest in this. I want to purchase a great DSP development kit for him. The envisioned development kit would provide the toolchain for code development, example applications, and the hardware needed to create sound effects to augment the audio output from existing musical instruments, such as an electric guitar (example). The engineer I want to buy this for is extremely good at high-end firmware development and is also a musician. If the system you recommend also provides good DSP tutorial content, that would be even better but is not essential. It is a DSP development kit / EVM that I'm looking for, not just a main DSP processor IC.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Regards,

CSC

  • Hello,

Our low-power DSP codecs include a free tool called PurePath Studio, which is a Labview-like software that allows for flexible DSP configurations on the chip. This allows you to come up with your own DSP algorithms/ process flows and includes some TI examples to start with. The documentation is pretty limited unfortunately but we can support its use. You can learn more here: https://www.ti.com/tool/AICPUREPATH_STUDIO

Let me know if this is what he's looking for,
