Hi TI FAE，

       The audio block diagram of TPA6211A1 is as follows. Can the analog audio output be directly connected to the external power amplifier? Is it necessary to add a direct divider capacitor in the middle?

    Hi Liuhuan,

    PCM5100A is a single-ended output DAC, while TPA6211A1 is a fully-differential amp, so I would suggest to place AC coupling caps between the DAC output and amp inputs.
    In addition, this is a stereo DAC, I assume you're planning to use only 1 of the channels? Or summing up for stereo-to-mono mixing? If summing the two signals I would suggest to follow the implementation from this data sheet section 9.4.1.3, this is not TPA6211A1 but a similar approach can be used: https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa6205a1.pdf#page=16&zoom=100,0,500

    Hi Ivan Salazar,

          I will describe the problem again. Can the output of TPA6211 be connected to an external power amplifier? If so, is AC coupling capacitor needed between TPA6211 and the power amplifier?

    Hi Liuhuan,

    Thanks for the clarification. TPA6211A1 output is differential as well, if the input of the external power amplifier is differential as well, you may not need the AC coupling capacitors as the differential nature of the signal would cancel the DC offset. Otherwise if external power amp is single-ended input then you must use AC coupling caps.
