TAS6424M-Q1: DC/AC Diagnostics function in PBTL mode

Part Number: TAS6424M-Q1

Hello team

I want to ask the question for TAS6424M-Q1.

When we use it in PBTL mode, what is the impedance of the speaker that we can diagnose?

In datasheet, the minimum speaker impedance of TAS6424M-Q1 is 1 ohm in PBTL mode.

However, I can't find detail information of DC/AC Diagnostics in PBTL mode. Sorry.

Below is my understanding.

According to the table on p. 9, [AC impedance accuracy] is from 2ohm to 16ohm.

2ohm is the minimum impedance that can be diagnosed on a single channel output, correct?

When using 1ohm speakers with PBTL, I would expect each channel to run diagnostics at 2 ohms.

Is it correct?

  • Hello,

The AC and DC Load Diagnostics do not change their measurements in PBTL.  In PBTL use channel 1 and channel 3 for your load diagnostic readings.

The AC diagnostics is typically used for capacitive coupled speakers.  Please use the impedance curve for your speaker, so that you measure it properly at the 18.75kHz test frequency.

    Regards,
    Gregg Scott
