TPA3221: TPA3221 output issue

Part Number: TPA3221

TPA3221 is used in two products (one project use 2pcs, the other is 4pcs). There is such a problem: Normal use of the music signal oven will show FAULT output low level, OTW high level (with the music signal jumping high and low), then the power amplifier can still work normally, after one hour of operation, the power amplifier can't work normally, no output, FAULT detected, OTW is low level. Power amplifier design is 70W output, power supply is 27.5V.

  • Hi

    after one hour of operation

Could you please check for this one hour operation, the output is normal and as expectation? There's no output totally disappear phenomenon happens, like goes into Hi-Z state and auto recover.

If you could confirm that, we think it's very high possibility that you mixed the FAULT pin and OTW pin. It should be OT warning at first, and OTW pin goes low. After an hour, triggered the OT shutdown, and FAULT pin goes low.

Any event trigger FAULT pin goes low, will always together with Hi-Z output. Even it's an auto recover fault, will need the device recover form the fault, the FAULT pin will goes high and output comes back.
