Hi Expert,

Customer would to use TAS5805M for Single-speaker ported solution (10-15W).

The DC adapter is 19V input, but I see datasheet recommend PVDD 12V to have excellent audio performance. So, do you think customer need to change 19V to 12V to get excellent performance ?

Also, customer want to understand how to estimate its power current/consumption if to support maximum 15W output?

Hi Mark

19V would be no problem to use. But if customer would like to change to smaller voltage, indeed the efficiency, THD and other audio performance will be little better.

The total power consumption need to use the efficiency curve in the datasheet to calculate. Check the working condition they want to use, and find the most similar curve in the datasheet.

Hi Shadow,

Thanks for comments, if customer use PVDD 12A and Speaker impedance is 4Ohm.if we consider efficiency is about 83% and Poutput =15W*83%=12.45W

Then current is 12.45W/4Ohm=3.1A.. is that correct calculation ? Please advise it.

The current is √（12.45W/4Ω）=1.76A.
